Where Am I Going?

Decades ago I was walking down a hall. I soon came to the end. To the right was the Sanctuary. In front of me was the Fellowship Hall. To my left was the Christian Training Center. The problem was I didn’t know which way to go. I ask myself, “Where am I going?”

Maybe you can identify. There is no shortage of things that pull on our lives, our time and our energy.

Jesus provided clarity for me on where I was to be going with my life. These words are recorded in Matthew 28:18-20 where Jesus said,

“All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore, go makes disciples...”

Our going, as Christians, is to be intentional. Literally, as we go wherever we go, we are to be making disciples.

A disciple, in this context, is a follower of Jesus. One who desires to learn Jesus’ teachings and disciplines their life to walk in obedience to those teachings...to Jesus’ will for their life...to His ways.

You see, disciples of Jesus are not born, they are made. It requires Christians who intentionally invest themselves in other Christians to help them grow through the stages of spiritual development. Jesusaccepts us as we are, but He has no intention of leaving us like He found us.

Making disciples is an act of obedience to the last words Matthew records from our Lord and Savior before He ascended into Heaven...”Go make disciples.” It’s all about making disciples who make disciples.

So now “my going” is intentional and with purpose. For Jesus sends all believers to go make disciples!

I challenge you to ask yourself as I did, “Where am I going?”

A Word from the LORD:

"Is there anything too hard for Me?" Says the LORD. "I truly am for you, watching over My word in your life to perform it.

Do not fret or worry, for it will only lead to a distrust in My great faithfulness concerning you.

Continue to trust in Me and My power to fulfill all I have promised, and live free in all the freedom granted to you in My Son, Christ Jesus.

I rejoice to see you rejoice in the outpouring of My goodness in your life. The blessings I give to you are meant for you to enjoy. My joy is made full in your joy, just as your joy is made ful…
